With another batch of rising senior studs coming onto the scene for Century in 2020, c/o ’21 RB Isaiah Huber is next in line of former Panthers to find themselves on a college roster postgrad with a chance to find greatness once again. After rushing for 900 yards and finding the endzone 16 times in 2019, the Rochester native has visited the likes of SDSU, NDSU, the U of M, and UND and is doing whatever he can to get his name out there before his upcoming senior season begins. Check out what the junior had to say about his big season in 2019, playing at Century, and his hopes for playing college football. Enjoy! Junior Season Hudl
NFN: Hello and thank you for your time, Isaiah. Please begin by telling us about yourself, what you love about football, and some stats and measurables for yourself.
Huber: “My name is Isaiah Huber. I’m a junior at Century High School in Rochester, MN. I play football, track, and hockey. Football has always been my favorite sport and a big part of my life. I enjoy playing it because all of my good friends play it and it’s always a good time working hard together and playing in games. I like how much the fans care about football too. There is always a lot of people at football games. I really enjoy running the ball and being able to show of me speed too. I like how you have to work as a team to be successful. I am always lifting and working during the off-season so I can get to my full potential. My dream is to be able to play football at the next level in college. My height is 5 foot 9 1/2”, My weight is 185 pounds. Last summer I ran a 4.52 40 yard dash. My bench right now is 300 pounds but I am working to get to 315 before football. I can squat 500 pounds. Last year I had around 900 yards rushing and 16 touchdowns 14 of them were rushing the other 2 were receiving.”
NFN: Awesome. How was your season as well as Century’s in 2018 and 2019? What can we expect from you guys in 2020 as well?
Isaiah Huber: ” As a sophomore in our 2018 season I played receiver and safety. This year I played running back and a little receiver. Our team was very good and there was a lot of skill. We just lost a tough one at the end of the season. This last year in our 2019 season we had a great group of guys. We all wanted the best for each other and the team. No one was selfish and everyone was nice to each other. We had a successful season we made it to the section championship and lost to Owatonna. The reason I had success this year was because our o-line was very good and I was surrounded by a lot of skilled players. We lost our first game against Owatonna by a lot. But we learned from it and came out and beat Mankato West. We then won every single game except New Prague leading up to the section championship. It was a tough loss I was coming of an ankle injury. I had missed the 2 games before that too. We just didn’t play very good and ended up losing. My team and I are very excited for our next season. We are starting things off with our team camp at Augustana University. We hope to have a even more successful season this year than we did last year.”
NFN: That’s great. What are your hopes for playing at the next level? Where are some schools you have visited and who are you interested in?
Huber: ” In the future I really want to play college football at the D1 level and I am doing everything I can to get that dream to come true. If I am not able to play D1 there are a lot of D2 and D3 schools out there that I can play at. I just love football and want to keep playing the game. I went on visits to University of Minnesota, SDSU, NDSU, and UND. And SDSU invited me to a junior day. I also got invited to a junior day for Track from the University of Minnesota. These last few years we have gone to state in track and I am hope that our sprint team will be able to go again this year. I am planning to go to a lot of camps around the area this year as well for football. I’m Just doing anything I can to get my name out there and be recognized.”
Hard work pays off, and I’m excited to see what the future holds for the Rochester Century RB.
