Continue ReadingI have only been writing for Northstar Football News since July, but I have fully invested myself into the recruitment and exposure of Minnesota’s top prep athletes since my senior year of high school in 2013 and can say with some confidence that I know what I’m talking about when I write for the #1 source for MN High School Football in NFN. With that being said I have no idea how Isaac Ask hasn’t been more highly recruited since his junior year season ended in November. Farmington will have one of the most prolific passing attacks of any team in the metro in 2020 as stud QB Alex Berreth, Ask, and fellow WR Elijah Green all are seniors in 2020 and return after an impressive ’19 passing campaign.
Ask looking crispy. When I saw the Tigers play last fall against Rosemount in October, Ask looked like one of the best players on either sides roster and was unguardable in Farmington’s unfortunate defeat to the Irish. The 6’3, 180 lber. is heading into his senior season underrated and overlooked and would make a heuckuva WR on a college’s roster in 2021. Check out what the now junior wideout had to say about his 30 catch, 427 yard, and 8 TD season last fall, Farmington’s expectations for 2020, and his hopes for a college to give him a shot. Enjoy! Junior Year Hudl
NFN: Hello and thank you for your time, Isaac! Congratulations on the success of 2019. Start by telling our readers a little about yourself, when you started playing football, and your measurables.
Ask: “I’m Isaac Ask and I go to Farmington High School I started playing in 6th grade. Some fun facts about me is I play baseball basketball and football and I enjoy eating tacos. Height 6’3, weight around 180, squat is 315 bench is 175 clean is 229.”
NFN: Solid. Now tell us how Farmington’s season went in 2018 and who you guys made the jump from 2018 to ’19?
Ask: “In our 2018 season there was a lot of players that weren’t bought into what we had and guys just taking it as a joke.
Ask.Some highlights from the year was just tying to compete every Friday as hard as I could and knowing that a few other guys were too and some lowlights was just our record. My season personally I thought was alright I had a couple injuries that kinda held me back a bit. And our jump from 2018-19 was our captains getting everyone to buy into the program and what needs to be done to win.”
NFN: What were your expectations going into 2019 and what is it like playing at Farmington?
Ask: “My expectations for myself was just go out every night and play my butt of and not care about the outcome and just know if I worked hard that’s all I can do. What I did during the off season was just keep competing in the sports I played in until the summer when I got a knee problem so that set me out a very long time. Playing at Farmington is amazing the culture we kinda started to build is awesome everyone is built into competing hard every day at practice and games and we got some wins under our belt so we know what we need to grow on and get better.”
NFN: What were some keys to the success of you and Alex and the other WR’s in 2019?
Ask: “The key to open in our passing game is just running my routes as best as possible and I guess what the ball was near just needed to make a play on it,
He can kick return too!!what I do well as a WR is being able to catch any ball thrown in my direction and I would say a little blocking what he gonna expect from Alex and I is just guys making plays and doing what ever it takes very happy to have a great quarterback like Alex to throw the ball to me.”
NFN: Forsure. So what’s new with recruiting? Who are you hearing from and what are you looking for in a college?
Ask: “I’m not sure of any teams that I would like to play for I would like to get out of MN. I have a visit to SDSU in March and SDSU is the only school that has contacted me I have not been to any camps I planned on going to some last summer but with my knee injury I wasn’t able to. Colleges I’m looking for is just any school that is willing to let me.”
