DL: Kyle Borgeson (6’2, 240 lbs.) Senior. St. John’s University. Rochester, Minn. Rochester Lourdes HS.
An accounting major whose younger brother Noah plays football for St. Thomas, made his biggest contribution to the Johnnie football team in 2018 during his junior campaign wherein the Lourdes graduate totaled 47 tackles, seven TFL’s, one FR, and a big interception vs. St Thomas in the Tommie/Johnnie game.
Borgeson at Lourdes.In 2019 he recorded 28 tackles, 2.5 TFL’s, two sacks, and a FR. Borgeson was also a member of Lourdes class 3A state championship team. Congrats, Kyle! Lourdes Hudl
DL: Zeke Erickson (6’2, 270 lbs.) Senior. Gustavus Adolphus College. Clarks Grove, Minn. NRHEG High School.
As a graduate of New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva High School, Erickson was a team captain and 2015 Waseca County News Defensive Player of the Year in 2015. He also wrestled and ran track as a prep, and started for the Golden Gusties defense as a nose tackle in 2017 as a sophomore and recorded 17 tackles, 2.5 TFL’s, and 1.5 sacks.

DL: Shaquille Young (6’0, 220 lbs.) Freshman. Augsburg University. St. Paul, Minn. Tartan High School.
The Auggies landed a stud in first-year defensive lineman and St. Paul native Shaquille Young. Playing at only 220 lbs., the four-year varsity letter winner and 2x All-Conference honoree had 43 tackles, 5.5 TFL’s, four FF’s, two FR’s, two blocked kicks, and a sack in a more than impressive freshman campaign. Young also letter 4x in basketball, 2x in baseball, 1x in lacrosse, and 1x in track & field as a Tartan Titan. He was a key component of turning around a once struggling Tartan program that went 8-0 in the regular season in 2019 and whose only loss was to a tough Mahtomedi team 27-28 in the section finals.

LB: Peter Hagstrom (6’2, 220 lbs.) Senior. Carleton College. Shakopee, Minn. Shakopee High School.
The Shakopee Sabre male athlete of the year in 2016 earned a well deserved MIAC award in 2019 after a stellar career with Carleton that ended with a senior season culminating in 74 tackles, 8.5 TFL’s, a sack, a FF, and a blocked kick. Having played in some important games vs. Hagstrom and his fellow Knights myself, I found him present and a great sport as well as a great LB for Carleton. Congratulations, Peter. Shako vs. EP Hudl
CB: Matthew Montplaisir (5’11, 188 les.) Senior. Gustavus Adolphus College. Buffalo, Minn, Buffalo High School.
GAC had two good corners this year in #1 Khayleb Scott and his counterpart: Buffalo native and graduate Matthew Montplaisir. An All-Conference and All-District DB as a prep who was also an All-Conference track selection, #24 posted 41 tackles, 4.5 TFL’s, and eight PBU’s in 2019. He’ll be tough to replace in 2020. Hudl
S: Matt Feldick (5’10, 195 lbs.) Sophomore. Bethel University. St. Michael, Minn. St. Michael-Albertville HS.
The sophomore Royal defensive back signed with 11 other STMA Knights in 2018 to play football (8), track & field (1), lacrosse (1), and baseball (1), and continues a long list of MIAC studs from the now 6A powerhouse St. Michael-Albertville Knights. The safety was apart of multiple state playoff runs for the Knights and proved a clutch performer during a big 6A playoff victory vs. Mounds View in 2017 when he recorded a big interception. As a freshman the DB he made an immediate impact with 25 total tackles, .5 TFL’s, and a PBU. In 2019 he took over as the starter and had 56 total tackles, two interceptions, two PBU’s, and 1.5 TFL’s. S: Maison Grefe (6’1, 190 lbs.) Senior. Concordia College-Moorhead. Cold Spring, Minn. Rocori HS.
Grefe was a three-sport athlete at Rocori High School who participated in football, basketball, and baseball for the Spartans and was Academic All-State in football. At CC, Grefe played sparingly as a sophomore in 2017 before a quality 2018 season followed with 15 tackles, 3 PBU’s, and 2.5 TFLs. He built on that year to become a full-time starter in 2019 where he tallied 45 tackles 4.5 TFL’s, three interceptions, and a FR.
