Mabin checking the call on the field.Having been fortunate enough to cover the Tigers take on Metro-South opponent Rosemount in early September, and was immediately impressed by #75 as he looked like the captain of the oline directing assignments and keys, as well as the most aggressive players in the trenches for both teams that game. Having helped the Tigers go 5-3 in one of the toughest subdistricts in the state while throwing for 1,500 yards in the regular season while rushing for 1,200, Mabin is no doubt a player who has the potential to be an impact player at the college level. Check out this new “Recruiting Report” where Northstar Football News dives into the 2021 lineman’s personal background, career thus far at Farmington, and recruitment news.
Mabin: “My name is Quincy Mabin . I started playing football ever since elementary school but I took a break in middle school from just losing so much. I’m from Farmington, Minnesota. Some fun facts about me I’ll catch on quick to stuff and I’m very observant.
Mabin celebrates with a teammate in the end zone.I like the brotherhood that comes with the sport and the ties you’ll make that’ll last forever. I’m a 6 foot 2 Right guard, I’m at 273 lbs., my bench is a 205, back squat a 350, and my deadlift is at 441. Our teams season last year wasn’t the greatest as we went 1-7 in the regular season and lost to Edina in the first round at playoffs. The lows of that season would be going 1-7, the highs for me would be getting some reps in varsity that time. My season last year was more of me learning and getting stronger physically and faster. My expectation for this year was to get after it and show everyone we are a force to be reckoned with and for myself I wanted to still get stronger better and build on my technique and perfect my craft. The off-season I worked on a lot of lifting and agility that was in the winter, in the spring I had track so I worked on a lot of upper buddy stuff during that time. Football at Farmington is a great experience. Just this year we started becoming a family which we all wanted and I give all credit to that to the seniors that paved the way for us next year. We played this year Stillwater, Osseo, Eagan, Rosemount, Burnsville, Lakeville North and South. We beat Stillwater and Osseo somewhere in the 40’s, and we beat Eagan and Burnsville but lost to North, South, and Shakopee. I’m very interested in D1-D2, I’ve always dreamed of becoming a D1 athlete and I’ll still try and shoot for that goal but I’ll go anywhere that people will take me. I’ve done the Row the Boat camp at the U once and I’m plan on doing it again. I’m going to work on my speed and my strength numbers I still feel like I can be better and improve them to good numbers. Farmington together will be closer together and unbreakable and will still be a force to be reckoned with , I’d expect an amazing season.”
I’m pumped to see what’s next for the junior and I’m looking forward to seeing a big season from the Farmington Tigers in 2020.
