Dylan Nelson, Running Back, Mayer Lutheran (2022)
–The running game for the Crusaders wasn’t heavily utilized, but Dylan Nelson carried the ball well for the squad from Mayer Lutheran. Only a sophomore, this kid has loads of potential in the 2022 class.
Carter Meiners, Cornerback, Browerville-Eagle Valley (2021)
-Meiners gets the nod on defense and special teams for me. To start the game, he returned the kickoff to the Mayer Lutheran 40-yard line. Then with his Tigers only clinched to a 6-point lead, he intercepted a pass from Hoese to keep the truck pushing for Ribsy Petermeier’s defense.
Ty Hoese Ty Hoese 6'2" | 190 lbs | QB Mayer Lutheran | 2022 State MN , Quarterback, Mayer Lutheran (2022)
-Hoese showed out in this game although it won’t look like it from the game schedule. This kid aired it out tremendously and threw for over 200 yards and three touchdowns for his Crusaders. I would like to see this kid in the NFN 2022 rankings coming up soon, as I feel his potential is off the charts.
Nye Becker, Cornerback, Browerville-Eagle Valley (2020)
My Northstar Football News hat is off to the secondary last week of Browerville-Eagle Valley. Becker and Meiners were spectacular in keeping Hoese in check although the yards may say otherwise. A few goods passes defended gets Nye Becker on my Big Dog’s list this week.
Teigan Martin Teigan Martin 6'6" | 220 lbs | TE Mayer Lutheran | 2022 State MN , Tight End, Mayer Lutheran (2022)
Easily the best tight end performance in the 20 teams I’ve seen play this year goes to Teigan Martin Teigan Martin 6'6" | 220 lbs | TE Mayer Lutheran | 2022 State MN of Mayer Lutheran. Martin put together a George Kittle like performance and used his great size to tower over the Tigers defenders. I am looking forward to this Mayer Lutheran 2022 class, as I think Teigan Martin Teigan Martin 6'6" | 220 lbs | TE Mayer Lutheran | 2022 State MN , Dylan Nelson and Ty Hoese Ty Hoese 6'2" | 190 lbs | QB Mayer Lutheran | 2022 State MN definitely could get Mayer Lutheran to the state playoffs in the coming year or two.
Austin Carr, Running Back, Browerville-Eagle Valley (2020)
-Never this season of the 20 teams seen, has there been a closer matchup for Nate’s Big Dogs game MVP than we saw late last Friday night. Carr used his 6’1, 191-pound frame to run downhill on the Crusaders defense all night. His near 150 yards of rushing was a key difference against this Mayer Lutheran team they won against.
Mason Gode, Running Back, Browerville-Eagle Valley (2021) Game MVP
-Offensively and defensively, Mason Gode was as much of a primetime player as you can get. Don’t let his 5’8 153-pound size fool you, he can straight run the ball wise ease. What made Mason Gode the game MVP in this one, was his yards after contact. He seemed like he was impossible to tackle on Friday night at St. Johns and that’s why his all-around performance gets my nod for game MVP. Congratulations to Mason Gode!
