Nate’s Big Dogs of the Week: Eden Valley-Watkins/Paynesville: Defense
These five players that stood out on defense in the section final game between Eden Valley-Watkins and Paynesville.
Michael Bautch, Linebacker, Eden Valley-Watkins (2021)
-Bautch was a key tackler and key defender for the Eagles. His name was commonly called throughout the game, and he delivered at linebacker and had a solid game. Should be a lead linebacker for the Eagles on next year’s roster.
Daltin Christinsen, Linebacker, Paynesville (2020)
-Christinsen’s key interception gets him on the defensive end of this list. He also had key tackles that put the icing on the cake to get Paynesville to get to the state tournament. He was a stronger suit on defense than offensively last night.
Armando Walker, Linebacker, Eden Valley-Watkins (2022)
-Walker’s pick 6 had the press box shook at St. John’s. He took a Grady Fuchs to pass 34 yards for an Eagles touchdown. This 2022 prospect along with Bautch is loaded with potential and should be a good linebacking core for EV-W next season.
Zach Nistler, Linebacker, Eden Valley-Watkins (2020)
-Nistler was a tackling machine for the Eagles. He tallied to my count the most tackles from both teams. He left it all on the field in his final game at an Eden Valley-Watkins Eagle. Props to Zach Nistler.
Weston Roberg, Linebacker, Paynesville (2020) Nate’s Big Dog of the Week on Defense.
-Roberg was the definition of a defensive playmaker on Friday night. Forced a fumble, multiple tackles for a loss, and tackling ability on the ball that was phenomenal. Roberg is my Nate’s Defensive Big Dog of the Week.
