Takeaways and Short Fields For Cardinal Victory
Redwood
“The score tonight does not reflect how good of a team they are.” Head Coach Matt Lundeen said after the 34-6 victory Friday night. “If we meet them again in the playoffs, this will not be the result. We had our run game going and converted on 3rd and 4th down.”
The Cardinals struck first with a 16 yard pass from Bryant Haas to Connor Josephson. Josephson followed with a takeaway on the ensuing drive, which led to an 8 yard touchdown run by Carter Johnson. Following another Cardinal takeaway by fumble, Johnson scored again from 6 yards out. Haas scored on a QB sneak in the 3rd quarter. Haas would cap the scoring with a 3 yard touchdown toss to Jordan Mertens, finishing the game at 34-6.
