The senior is coming off of a great game day visit to the University of Minnesota in early October and a dominant 24-0 section semifinal win against conference rival Irondale on Saturday afternoon. He is also a 3X USA National Team captain and after covering the game against Irondale for Northstar Football News Toner was gracious enough to answer a few questions to give our readers some “Insider Info” about Spring Lake Park and their upcoming section 5AAAAA final against Robbinsdale Cooper Friday night.

Toner: “It’s always a physical game when you play a team like Irondale. They have some really good players who give us great fits. It always comes down to who wants it more, who lifts harder in the offseason, and who has the determination to win. I recorded 13 pancakes this game, but I was really shooting for 15. Next week vs. Cooper I’ll be looking to hit that magic #15!

Toner: “Our preparation for Irondale was key! We got the first round bye so we got an extra day or two to really take mental reps and scout all their tendencies. That played a huge role.”
NFN: How does it feel being a senior and playing under the lights in Minnesota representing Spring Lake Park?
Toner: “Nothing beats playoff football in Minnesota. We are all hoping for a snow game! But on a serious note it;s my last year playing high school football with the guys I’ve grown up playing with. It means a lot to me. Many of my teammates aren’t fortunate enough to play football at the next level so I feel it’s my responsibility to give everything I have every play for them. That’s the vibe we carry with us!”
