Trey Steinbach (6’4″, 220 lbs.) is a senior TE/LB at Marshall High School who recently added to the Tigers’ impressive wave of Division One talent. While on a very talented squad, Steinbach posts some good numbers, making 51 total tackles and 4 touchdowns on 12 catches and 175 yards, but is a real role player on the team. Getting an extensive role as a junior, Trey was able to play both ways which is pretty impressive for a Marshall squad. He was able to notch out 69 tackles with 1 pick and one fumble recovery in his junior season. Steinbach was catching many offers from multiple NSIC, MIAA, and Missouri Valley schools. He was also gaining some interest from the Big 12 and Big Ten. After a lot of consideration, Trey decided to go to National Powerhouse North Dakota State. He was kind enough to tell us about his recruiting experience and his senior season.
Trey Steinbach- Jake Przytarski- Marshall IndependentNFN: Hello Trey, could you walk us through your recruiting experience?
Steinbach: The recruiting process went really well for my family and I. I received offers from NDSU, SDSU, UNI, NW Missouri State, Augustana, SMSU, Concordia St. Paul, Wayne State and Northeastern State. I had also visited K-State, Iowa, USD, and UND. I had a lot of conversations with my family and decided NDSU was best.
NFN: What made you chose NDSU?
Steinbach: I chose NDSU because it always felt like home to me. The coaches are great and recruited me heavily.
NFN: What will you miss most about high school? Both football and school.
Steinbach: I will definitely miss playing in front of the Marshall fans and community. I will miss playing with the guys I grew up with.
NFN: Is there any other little details you would like to share about the recruitment process for other athletes looking to play college football?
Steinbach: Recruitment can be exciting and stressful at the same time. Enjoy the process and find the right fit for you.
