After a weekend filled with cold and snowy conditions, power outages and minimal upsets, the state quarterfinal round was completed late Saturday night with Bemidji’s win over Cambridge-Isanti. The expert picks have been tabulated for the opening games, and it’s St. Paul Pioneer Press sportswriter Jace Frederick with the lead following the quarterfinals.
Frederick correctly predicted 26 of 28 games correctly, missing only Waseca’s upset of Winona in Class AAAA and Mountain Iron-Buhl’s overtime win over Stephen Argyle in 9-Man. Frederick’s 26-2 mark is the best record in the quarterfinal round in the five-year history of the expert picks segment.
NFN’s own Brian Jerzak was right behind Frederick with a 25-3 record. The semifinal selections will be released prior to kickoff of the Spring Grove-Cromwell game on Thursday at U.S. Bank Stadium.
