The senior OG is one of my favorite IOL in the state. Barrett is a technician. He plays with a wide, powerful base, keeps his hands inside, trusts his feet so he doesn’t have to reach for defenders. Zach delivers a strong pop on first contact. His short area agility and burst allow him to get in position to have leverage over his opponent. The senior has the range to double team to level two, or attack straight up to LBs. This is a need to know OL prospect.

Zach started his senior season off with a great performance in the trenches. My first takeaway from his film is that the big man perfectly personifies the nasty, bully mentality that you need on the OL, especially along the interior. Zach is always looking to dominant his opponent, to put them in the dirt, to throw them around. The OG is able to do it consistently because of his superior strength and heavy hands. He simply overpowers IDL in the run game. Barrett also shows his strength in the pass game with his anchor. When he sets his anchor he is able to stuff bull rushers, and easily maintains the pocket. Barrett is one of the best uncommitted senior OL in IL. Check out the week one film below.

I didn’t see a more impressive display of power than Zach during the one on one battles. Barrett is well equipped for the interior of the OL at the next level. He is just under 6’3″ and 270 lbs, but wow does he have the next level  stoutness and strength. He was stout against any bull rush attempt. When he set his anchor there was no getting him off his stop. His hands were just as powerful and his initial punch would have the defender stopped or looking for a new plan of attack. Barrett holds one scholarship offer so far. Don’t sleep on the standout junior. He is a tone setter in the trenches.
