Already identified as one of the BCC’s United Gold top talents based off his play a season ago, Kessel did nothing to prove us wrong despite Summit coming up with the short end of the stick against St. Thomas Aquinas. Kessel’s strong season (49 tackles, 31 solo) continues, as he added on to it a strong game in week 3 – 24 tackles (13 solo), with 2 tackles for loss.

A standout linebacker for Summit, Tyler Kessel had an impressive season in 2022. With 120 total tackles, 20 of those for a loss, 5 sacks, an interception and a forced fumble, Tyler was a force for this defense. What stands out right away is Tyler’s size and height. He uses both to torment QBs and runners.
When he’s on the blitz, he pierces through the offensive line and makes the QB feel the pressure. He is a tall player that stands directly in the QB’s throwing path, setting himself up to swat the ball down or intercept it. Tyler brings the heat when in pursuit of the quarterback. He is capable of bringing them down quickly before they have time to set their feet. Tyler is a great technical tackler that will rack up an insane amount of tackles in 2023.
