Nickens recently shut down his recruitment and committed to the new movement at Sacramento State and is the second North Bay player to commit to the Hornets in recent weeks with Anderson. The two way player for back to back state champion St. Vincent de Paul held early offers from both Nevada and UNLV before the Hornets came in and offered last week. Rated as a 3-star prospect per 247-Sports, Nickens put together an impressive Senior year going over the 700 yard marker receiving, and starred both ways for the Mustangs. He is currently committed to Sacramento State as an ATH and can play either corner or receiver at the next level.

Nickens is a fluid and explosive athlete that can attack all three levels of the field with his downfield speed and route running ability. At 6’0” 175 lbs. he possesses good acceleration and a strong drive phase off the LOS to close space and eat up DB’s cushion. Creative with his releases, his lateral movement and hand usage prevents DB’s from getting into his body. He’s quick in and out of his breaks dropping his hip level to change directions and burst out. Flashes good short area quickness to create separation at the short/intermediate levels and be elusive in the open field after the catch. Plus ball judgement skills, he tracks it well into his hands and can adjust while maintaining his speed. Holds offers from UNLV and Nevada.

Nickens also impressed in drills and in the one on one session and is a smooth route runner that can hit a third gear downfield and won on some 50/50 balls downfield as well. Nickens is one of the top receivers in the Bay Area, and remains uncommitted and should see a slew of other FCS+ offers come his way over the next few months. He competed at both receiver and corner, and picked up his third offer from Minot State. UNLV and Nevada have already offered earlier this Spring.

Recent Offers: UNLV
Coming off a state championship winning season, Nickens is poised to have a true breakout year this Fall, as injuries cut his Junior season short after he was off to a great start. Nevada offered back in the Winter, and after working out for UNLV, they pulled the trigger as well this Spring. Look for Nickens to be one of the North Bay’s top weapons come Fall and impress on the camp circuit next month.
