Expert Analysis
Josh White | Prep Redzone Scout
Elliott brings a high-level feel for zone coverage, showing the ability to press early and still get back to his landmark with discipline. He processes quickly, allowing him to close windows and drive on throws with timing. His closing speed shows up both at the catch point and when rallying to the ball.
He’s just as effective against the run, setting the edge and forcing plays back inside with sound leverage. There’s a consistent willingness to mix it up physically and finish tackles. He takes smart angles and rarely puts himself out of position. His fundamentals and awareness keep him around the ball in every phase. Elliott is a complete coverage backer who brings balance to the second level.

Troy Elliot is a talented OLB from Chambers Academy who’s coming off his best season yet last fall.
“Elliot is a versatile linebacker who can create huge plays rushing the passer, defending the run, and dropping back in coverage. Elliot is highly instinctual and always seems to be near the ball. He’s great at identifying plays and has the athleticism to cover ground and get to the ballcarrier quickly.
I’m really impressed with Elliott’s coverage skills. He’s terrific at getting his hands on the ball, frequently creating PBUs and INTs by perfectly timing and jumping underneath routes. I think his pass defense really makes him an every-down threat to opposing offenses. He’s a really well-rounded defender.”
60 tackles, 7 tackles for loss, 2 interceptions, 8 pass breakups, 2 FR, and 1 TF and my team finished with a 12-2 record and a state championship victor

Troy Elliot came up huge for Smiths Station’s defense on numerous occasions last fall- he’s an every-down LB who can make huge plays all over the field. Elliot is especially dominant as a run defender- he came up with a lot of huge stops for Smiths Station last season, consistently flying through the line of scrimmage and into the backfield to rack up TFLs. If he isn’t able to catch the ball carrier in the backfield, Elliot will use his speed and terrific pursuit skills to hawk down the RB and make a tackle- it’s extremely impressive watching the effort he plays with, when watching him you won’t find a play where he’s not working as hard as he can. Elliot also provides a lot of value on special teams where he consistently comes up with huge blocks to assist his teammates in the return game. Elliot was extremely reliable for Smiths Station all last season, coming up with huge stops against the run and pass all year long. Check out Elliot’s tape below, it’s going to be exciting watching him next season!
