Savage led all sophomores in Southern California with 25 touchdowns last season (19 rushing, 6 receiving). He ran for 648 yards on 121 carries and caught 35 passes for 580 yards.
Savage is a versatile offensive player who can play receiver or running back and is a punishing ball carrier who is tough to bring down. As a receiver, he has strong hands and wins a lot of 50/50 balls. He isn’t a speed demon but he can create separation with his sharp route running and is a physical mismatch for some corners.
Savage offers good position versatility as a linebacker or safety and is a rangy player that covers a ton of ground when closing in on ball carriers and is a very good overall athlete with the ideal frame and mass for the next level. He is a highly instinctual player that can quickly sniff out plays, triggers quickly while packing a punch at the point of attack and is a very physical tackler in the box. His ability to cover/flip his hips without losing speed and make plays on the ball along with dropping into the box and play stout against the run makes him a very intriguing prospect for the next level and also offers some upside as well.
Savage ran for 141 yards on 18 carries with two touchdowns for Ventura in its 35-28 win over Arroyo Grande in the Division 3-AA Regional championship game. He also had a receiving touchdown.
Savage checks into our rankings as a top five player at his position across the 2028 class, and is coming off a very impressive first season for Ventura. He is a big and physical receiver that shows he can separate downfield and beat zone coverage while doing a nice job at settling before quickly knifing upfield. Savage shows he can run a variety of routes both in breaking and out breaking, and is a natural pass catcher that can track over the top and adjust well while the ball is in the air. A very fluid and well built athlete with still 3 years left in his prep career, he is another no brainer high level playmaker that will be hauling in offers sooner rather than later.
