Johnson, who committed to UTSA, showcased his skills on the defensive side of the ball against a stout Crowley offensive line. Tristan’s ability to disrupt plays and apply pressure on the opposing team’s offense was a testament to his future potential at the collegiate level. At 6’3 260 pounds, Johnson has a college ready frame, he has broad shoulders with a powerful, thick, lower trunk and his extended reach allows him to unleash his violent hands. Tristan was disruptive all game long for L.D. Bell, making plays behind the line of scrimmage and this made things difficult for Crowley in the second half. Johnson has the potential to head to San Antonio and earn playing time in 2024.

Johnson has an explosive get off at the line of scrimmage, he has violent hands at engagement and he uses his extended arm reach to deliver a powerful, stiff punch at the point of attack to stun blockers. Tristan runs the arch well when he is rushing the passer, he has excellent hip bend and he closes on the ball carrier with violent intentions but plays fast and under control. Johnson has a versatile game with the skill set to line up at all four down linemen positions and attack offenses from all angles causing havoc. He plays the run using sound technique, Johnson plays with great leverage and his ability to shock and shed blockers quickly enables him to be disruptive. Tristan plays with a high motor, he is relentless in the trenches and plays from sideline to sideline. Johnson had double digit offers from schools around the country but recently committed to UTSA. The Roadrunners are getting a versatile, productive player who has the skill set to come in and compete early when he gets on campus in San Antonio.
