Coming into the camp as one of the top known names, Jones lived up to the hype as he walked away as the DB MVP and one of the top overall performers not just from the defensive side of the ball but from everybody in attendance. This guy is so smooth when he moves on the field. Jones looked effortless when moving through his testing and positional work then went into 1 on 1 competition where he showed off his athleticism, speed and secondary versatility. The Bulldogs senior defensive back has the upside to stay out at cover corner but could definitely excel at nickel back or free safety as well. Where I think Jones took another step in his progression last weekend was his attention to detail during positional work where he looked clean and precise while taking to coaching very well. This is a naturally athletic guy that will continue to watch his stock rise as more coaches work with him this summer and watch his growth this Fall.

Athletic and fast with high work ethic, Jones has been a prospect on the radar of college coaches for a while now but those offers have yet to arrive but they will soon as this Mid-Tennessee product is too good to be looked over much longer. Over the past two months, Jones has been on road visiting multiple collegiate campuses and visiting with staffs, taking in all the advice while getting a feel for what’s to come on the next level. The next step for Jones appears to be college camps where these coaches want to see how the Bulldogs speedster moves in person as well as see what he can do within the secondary. Once this guy shows off his speed this summer, it’s over as Jones will see his stock rocket up with tons of interest and possible offers.

Jones is also able to let plays develop and be patient, which is his key to those silky smooth routes he can run, especially deep. He runs clean, polished routes where he can read defenses to identify the space and zone, he then allows his routes to evolve and develop before he takes what he is given and locates where he needs to be to make a play. Jones is capable of running any route, whether it is deep, over the middle or catching screens out of the backfield. He is a big play threat on any yardage and takes up considerable defensive attention on every play.
