Zack Reyes | Prep Redzone Scout
Sheriff was a new addition to the 2028 CA rankings in February after breaking out as one of the most productive two-way sophomores in San Diego last season. The 6’2″/180 WR/DB out of Canyon Hills totaled 700+ receiving yards and 6 TDs on offense and posted 60 tackles and 8 INTs on defense last season. He’s a rangy FS on defense that can create turnovers in deep coverage and is a strong tackler in space. On offense, he’s a skilled playmaker that turn in explosive plays with the ball in his hands and shows exceptional hands and ball skills completing tough catches in tight coverage. Sheriff is firmly on the radar of San Diego’s top two-way playmakers to watch over the next few seasons.

Sheriff led all sophomores in the San Diego Section with eight interceptions and had 60 tackles. Offensively, he had 756 yards receiving with six touchdowns and was always a threat for a big play on tunnel screens.
He’s a safety who is smooth in his movements and is a very good tackler. Sheriff is a baseball player and he plays safety like a center fielder and a lot of his interceptions are tracking down deep balls like an outfielder. Sheriff takes good angles to the ball while defending the run and has good speed.

Sheriff is an impact player on both sides of the ball for Canyon Hills at WR and FS. 6’2” 195 lbs. he possesses a projectable frame with the versatile skillset and positional flexibility that will boost his recruitment. Flashes great secondary range being able to cover the whole field sideline to sideline. High level ball skills showing natural tracking and judgement skills with the ability to time out his jump and compete at the high point, ranked second among 2028 players in interceptions with 8 on the season. Plays well with his eyes to read the QB and be aware of route concepts as the play develops allowing him to anticipate throws before the ball is released. Strong tackler that delivers heavy contact and is tough to break even in the open field. A lot to like and will see increased recruiting attention as the cycle progresses.
