Steven Elliot, a junior edge rusher out of Perquimans, is one of those under-the-radar prospects that continues to show real upside. An extremely athletic two-sport standout, Elliot brings versatility and range that translates well on the defensive side of the ball. At 6’1”, just under 200 pounds, he totaled 72 tackles and 7 sacks last season—production that reflects both his motor and playmaking ability.
Projecting forward, Elliot looks like a natural fit at outside linebacker at the next level, where his athleticism can really be maximized in space. He’s the type of prospect that programs at the FCS level and beyond should keep a close eye on. With continued development, he has the tools to be a great find for a program looking to land a high-upside defender flying under the radar.
Steven Elliot (EDGE, Perquimans, Junior) has emerged as one of the rising defensive playmakers in the region, showcasing both production and athletic upside. Standing out with 6.5 sacks on the season, Elliot made his biggest splash in his most recent game, where he racked up 3.5 sacks and announced himself as a force off the edge. At the next level, his frame, motor, and agility suggest he may project best as a linebacker, where his versatility will allow him to cover ground while still rushing the passer. A multi-positional athlete with a high ceiling, Elliot’s combination of impact plays and athleticism make him a name to circle on the mid-season defensive watchlist.
Elliott is one of the top outside pass-rushers in the lower classifications, despite being undersized for the position. The reason? His get-off is mightily impressive and he’s able to bend around offensive tackles with ease. As he puts on some weight, he should be able to retain that explosiveness and grow as a college prospect.
Elliott is a smaller, but extremely effective pass-rusher, racking up 10 sacks as a sophomore. He was also effective around the ball, making over 60 tackles and recovering four fumbles. his pass-rush plan is among the best in the class and he had multiple sacks on secondary or even tertiary moves. He can counter well if initially stopped and his motor is impressive.
