Expert Analysis
Jordan Reyes | Prep Redzone Scout
Ama was impressive throughout his freshman year on varsity for Menlo-Atherton. He’s a versatile safety that can operate in both one high and two high schemes being able to play deep coverage or roll down into the box. Equally effective in coverage and run support. Flashes great range to cover ground with speed and play sideline to sideline. Good key diagnosis ability to read run/pass and fly to the football. His short area acceleration and burst to close in pursuit allows him to close space in a hurry. Plays with good pad level and leverage throughout the rep when changing directions and tackling the ball carrier. Extremely active with a high motor to finish the play.

Ama can play either safety or corner and is having an outstanding first year for Menlo-Atherton in the CCS. Ama is a highly instinctual and quick trigger player that has natural ball skills and is seemingly always around the ball. He breaks quickly to ball carriers with strong open field tacking abilities and can bait quarterbacks into poor throws over the middle before making a play. Overall, a very high IQ and fluid athlete in coverage with still three years left in his prep career, Ama should be a household name over the next few years across the CCS and is just getting started for Meno-Atherton.

Draft Pick #30
Spencer Ama is a physical runner who can also switch things up by showing off his agility when given space. He runs with good lean and doesn’t like to stop his feet at the contact point. The yards he still accumulates after being touched really adds up. Ama can carry the load easily for four quarters.
