The second time catching Holcomb live this year was very consistent with the first. He is developed beyond his years, so technically and fundamentally sound. An over the top thrower, he was on time, on the money with his placement, threw with great touch. He looks like he’s been in the weight room. In testing, he was one of three that ran sub 5 second 40 yard times, clocking in at 4.88, which is elite for his age, and also put down a 4.6 pro shuttle and 9’3 broad jump. Polished as a passer, athletically gifted, Holcomb is a top quarterback nationally.

Holcomb, now planning to attend Brother Rice, is checking in at 6010 182 currently and showing nice early physical characteristics. For his age, he is very well developed from a mechanics standpoint, far past his years, and is showing great quarterback maturity. Motion is tight, release is quick, ball has spin. Holcomb is showing the ability to deliver with velocity and touch along with the ability to place the football. Expect Holcomb to continue to impress in the combine setting, and could very well be the best signal caller in his class when ink meets the paper.

is the real deal at the quarterback position. He has the talent to be the difference in a game and he’s an all-around player who can throw the ball great and use the athletic ability and escape pressure and extend plays to make plays. He is one of the more impressive quarterbacks I have gotten the chance to study, and I really like what he brings to the table!

- Strengths: Fundamentals, “IT” Factor
Simply put, he’s one of the most impressive youth Quarterbacks I have seen in this 2030 class to date. With another year of pre-high school ball still left to come, Holcomb is a prospect that has the ability to become one of the most elite in his class when all is said and done. Everything from his size, mobility, arm talent, fundamentals and more all check the box in a big way. PRZ Next Scout Arlen Harris saw him in November at a Chicagoland Showcase and raved about what Holcomb could do. Not many people walking the planet today–or ever–can say they received a Michigan scholarship offer before their eighth grade season.

Sam is a top tier gun slinger out of Downers Grove with great pedigree. He’s coming off a recent offer from Michigan and he proved his hype during the showcase amongst his older peers winning MVP. He was head and shoulders above the competition in all classes and looks the part out the gate. Tall, lean muscular limbs and can move around the pocket showing off elite instincts. His throwing motion is natural and has zip behind his ball. Each drill was fluid and he got better as the day went on. Great hips, footwork, mechanics and attitude separated him from the pack. Sam approached each phase with focus and placed each pass in the window where his receivers could make a play. You could see comfort in moving the pocket during roll outs, bootlegs, or just sitting in his captain chair popping a deep ball on a rope. This kid will have a choice of school once it’s all said and done.
