About Ryan

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am a physical wide receiver who combines speed with disciplined route running. With exceptional hands and a high football IQ, I excel at getting open and utilizing space effectively. I am reliable in traffic and consistently make catches over the middle. I was named to the All-State, All-Area, and All-Conference teams as a sophomore.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am highly competitive and determined to win. As a leader, I hold myself to high standards both on the field and in the classroom. I am driven to be the best I can be.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I coach the WRs for the Jr Skyhawks 6th grade team and I coach our little dribblers program for basketball.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

As a sophomore, I was honored to be voted a leader by our coaches for the varsity team. I oversee a group of JV and varsity players, ensuring they stay motivated, informed, and ready to compete, especially in the weight room. Additionally, my mom and I volunteer at the local food bank each year to help feed those in need.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

In middle school I had to overcome Dyslexia by taking special classes and getting additional help.

What type of college are you looking for?

One that runs a spread offense, has great facilities, and has an engineering department or medical. I also want to play for a college that wants me and can utilize my skillset.

Sophomore standout Ryan Franze Ryan Franze Ryan Franze 5'10" | 185 lbs | WR Johnsburg | 2027 State IL had a breakout season in 2024. He was Johnsburg’s go-to wide receiver all season, consistently delivering in critical moments. Franze has a knack for getting open in the secondary, averaging over six receptions per game and proving to be a reliable target for his quarterback. On the year, Franze made the most of his targets with 869 receiving yards and a team-high 13 touchdowns. His combination of precise route running and strong hands made him a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses. With two years of high school football left, Franze is poised to build on his impressive sophomore campaign.

Johnsburg HS has a noteworthy freshman WR to know. The 5’9″ 165 lbs WR is a quick, twitchy athlete with explosive short area burst/acceleration. Ryan is quick off the line, and able to make CBs miss when trying to jam him. From there he is able to stack the corner and open up separation. Ryan also has reliable hands that can secure the catch in traffic. The cherry on top is that he was an effective, strong blocker out wide. Keep an eye on the freshman WR. He has tools that will make him a problem for DBs.
