If you’re late to the party on RJ, let me tell that he has really impressed me! I have seen him develop a ton over the last couple of years, and he is having a big time senior season, just as I predicted before the season started. He’s an extraordinarily aggressive tackle with an ability to move, regularly pulling and getting to the 2nd level. He has no issues bringing big time contact and tends to completely overpower his assignment into a pancake. RJ has done a great job of developing his technique to go with his great size and unique ability. I recommend him to any D2 school looking for their next nasty offensive lineman!

This offensive lineman out of Flat Rock has had an incredibly productive summer! He made it out to a bunch of camps and was able to snag quite a few offers. I saw him most recently at the Central Michigan Big Man Camp, and I was impressed with his sound fundamentals, moved very well in his agility drills, and showed a lot of strength. In his Hudl from last season, it reaffirms what I saw at CMU, as he was as aggressive and strong as I remember, and showed off his mobility by getting out to the second level. RJ is really starting to turn heads so I am expecting a big final season from him!

I’m expecting a very good season out of RJ. First off, the 6’6″ 255lb size is very nice to see, and it gives him a higher ceiling than most offensive linemen. As for RJ’s tape, it’s a mixed bag. Starting with pass sets, RJ knows what he’s doing, yet he’s consistently inconsistent. During his pass sets, I like how RJ takes his kick step while immediately putting his hands up. What I’d like to see moving forward is a bit more depth on his step plus better recovery when things go south. Still, I’m just going off the highlight tape. As for run blocking, RJ is generally a very strong lineman who can shove people into the dirt. Though, I suspect that RJ needs to work on his footwork past his first step. Very quickly, RJ can become very off-balance and out of control. I’m just scratching the surface here, but generally, know that RJ has incredible upside and can reach his ceiling if he cleans up the fundamentals. This season will be HUGE for his recruitment.
