I sat down and watched some highlights of RJ to get an idea of where he may participate in this camp, and he’s a true athlete on both sides of the ball. I like his instincts on defense, and that’s where he had more film, but he does some good things with the ball in his hands on offense, too. He’s also highly productive, with 7 interceptions last season, which will definitely get some attention from football programs. He’s one I’m going to watch going forward.

Gist was good enough to crack both our receiver and defensive back rankings, a testament to his two-way abilities. He should probably be getting more Division 1 looks, thanks to his smooth movement skills and the way he attacks the ball in the air. He’s a guy we really like, even if he is a newer name to our database.

Gist is an extremely athletic two-way player who made our Forsyth County wide receivers list earlier this month, but he was actually more productive on defense. The Bishop McGuinness star had seven interceptions last year as a safety and nickel defender. He has great instincts and the explosive ability to make plays on the ball.

Gist did a little bit of everything for Bishop McGuinness last season, and his ranking is purely as a receiver. The rising junior did a lot of his damage after the catch, either on designed screens or on shorter throws over the middle, where his speed and elusiveness are both on full display.
