Johnson is a UC Davis commit and one of the top players across the central valley in 2025. He is a tremendous athlete that is very fluid in space, fly’s around in the open field and packs a punch at the POA when making contact. He is explosive in the short area when coming downhill, shoots gaps and can quickly get into the backfield while getting off blocks and playing with violent hands and tremendous backside pursuit. Through the first two weeks he has amassed 24 tackles and 8 TFL’s while also handling running back duties for Independence.

Notes: Johnson is one of the top two-way guys across the central valley and is a very athletic linebacker prospect that looks to be playing on that side of the ball for the Aggies. He is a violent hitter with elite movement and cover abilities in space while showing he can come downhill and bang in the box with tons of upside and plus athleticism. Johnson held offers from Sac State, Cal Poly, Idaho and had an early Arizona offer as well.

Johnson is a pure football player with a downhill and attacking style of play at both RB and LB. 6’0” 210 lbs. he has the ability to play either side of the ball at the college level with the size, athleticism, and speed he possesses. Violent at the POA, he shows natural power and strength to accelerate through contact. On defense, he plays with excellent pad level and leverage. He’s able to slip blocks with a quick lateral move and shoulder dip or stack and shed aggressively. His short area burst and efficient angles allow him to close space on ball carriers in a hurry. As a ball carrier, he flashes great twitch and lateral agility with the ability to accelerate out of his cuts. Good field vision and spatial awareness to know where defenders are and use their leverage against them to attack a running lane with speed. He’s a high caliber athlete holding five D1 offers but is still under recruited given his talent and ability.
