Quinelle Shaw
About Quinelle
Expert Analysis
Ed OBrien | Prep Redzone Scout
Shaw is a long, athletic defensive end who wins with quickness, stride length, and effort. He gets off the ball well and can bend around the edge to create sacks and pressure, even forcing quarterbacks into trouble when he doesn’t get home himself. Against the run, Shaw competes hard, fights through blocks, and shows the motor to chase plays down from the backside. He plays with noticeable tenacity and isn’t afraid to mix it up, even at 180 pounds. As he adds weight and strength to his frame, he should become more consistent setting the edge and finishing plays. The upside is there. With physical development and a deeper pass-rush toolbox before the start of next season, he has the chance to produce a monster senior-year season off the edge.

Shaw transferred to Friendship Collegiate Academy back in May. Despite limited highlights from last season, you can see that he’s quick coming off the ball and does a solid job of securing the edge. He was an effective pass-rusher as well.
What I’m looking to see from him this season: I want to know if he’s put any size on since the end of last season. In this case, I’m talking about weight. He’s listed as 6’4″, 180 pounds, making him more on the leaner side of things. Shaw is a raw talent that I can see being developed into a solid prospect by Coach Scrapp and the crew at FCA.
