Iowa is an underrated state when it comes to producing specialists for the next level. Within that group, the development of long snappers probably deserves more attention. McGill is someone that helps make the case for it. With good size already and a frame capable of filling out, the St. Albert sophomore is on a sound trajectory. He can bulk up to better handle the position physically in terms of blocking and tackling. The foundation for success already exists as evidenced by his sophomore highlight video. For a Class A playoff team, McGill shows a smooth delivery on punt snaps, putting the ball where it needs to be, getting chip blocks and pursuing the returner. He’s athletic with good speed. A search did not find him evaluated by Rubio or Kohl’s, and McGill would be wise to hit the camp circuit this summer to raise his recruiting profile if he’d like to develop into a college specialist.
