Howard measures in at 5’10 170 accounting for 39/83 for 642, 47% completion, 6 TDs, 5 INT, 233 carries for 2050 yards and 23 touchdowns with 4 receptions for 58 yards. This dual threat QB excels in the run game. He leads all of Colorado in rushing yards. He has very good athletic ability due to very good change of direction, speed, acceleration, and balance. Howard has a good release paired with good throw power. He has very good short accuracy. Very explosive quick start when running. He uses his very good vision to weave through the defense. However, he isn’t afraid of putting his shoulder down to truck through defenders. He uses his very good balance to consistently get yards after contact. Good juke move and very good dynamic cuts. Howard is a home run threat with the ball in his hands. I believe Howard will excel as a runner at the next level whether D2 or FCS.

Howard brings a different dynamic to the quarterback position, serving as one of the most dangerous rushing threats in 2A. On the ground, he has carried the ball 102 times for 870 yards and 10 touchdowns, including an eye catching 81 yard score that highlighted his elite speed. While his passing numbers are modest, 199 yards with 3 touchdowns and 1 interception, Howard’s ability to protect the football and control the game with his legs makes him a unique weapon. As he works to improve his accuracy and consistency through the air, his rushing ability alone ensures he will remain a defensive nightmare. With his explosiveness, Howard has all the makings of a breakout dual-threat quarterback to watch moving forward.

Howard may be listed as a quarterback, but make no mistake, his game is built on his ability to run. A true dual-threat, Howard is a dynamic athlete who can slice through defenses with his speed and vision. Once he reaches the second level, he’s a legitimate homerun threat. Howard reads running lanes quickly and wastes no motion getting north and south. His explosiveness adds a major wrinkle to his team’s offensive scheme, forcing defenses to prepare for a quarterback who runs like a top tier running back. As a rusher in the 2A ranks, Howard is a name that needs more attention this summer.
