About Mehari
Expert Analysis
Matt Tate | Prep Redzone Scout
Nega measures in at 5’11 163-pounds. The DB/WR had 6 receptions for 52 yards and 1 touchdown, and 27 total tackles (24 solo, 3 assisted). He has good athletic ability due to very good change of direction, good jumping, speed, and acceleration. Nega does a good job at jamming the WR at the line of scrimmage and using his fluid hips to match the wideout into the break. Fluid back pedal. Good man and zone coverage. Nega has good closing quickness as well. I’m looking forward to seeing him continue develop.

Mehari had a good camp showcasing his versatility at both DB and WR. When there was a need for DBs, Nega stepped up and took reps at DBs. He has good athletic ability due to very good change of direction, jumping, good speed, and acceleration. Good release at the line of scrimmage. Very good separation quickness due to play strength and athletic ability. Fights through contact during the route. Nega would come back for the catch and attack the ball. Keep an eye on him as his development continues.

Nega displayed true game-breaking potential, combining quick twitch explosiveness with smooth route execution. He was sharp in and out of his breaks and quickly snapped his head around to locate the ball, a trait that stood out in live reps. Nega also showed soft hands and leaping ability, consistently winning contested catches at the high point. With his blend of athleticism and polish, he’s a strong candidate for a breakout season and a stock riser to monitor closely.

Nega brings impressive length and athleticism to the defensive backfield. He uses his frame to redirect receivers and disrupt route timing, while maintaining solid positioning in coverage. Nega plays with discipline, staying over the top and keeping threats in front of him. He’ll look to emerge as a defensive leader and difference-maker this season.
