Paul Gregorian | Prep Redzone Scout
Recent Offers: Eastern Washington, UC Davis, Idaho
Player Notes: Barnes is a very high upside tackle prospect with tons of untapped potential and a nice ceiling in college that should have a huge senior season. He is a excellent athlete with natural bend, a strong punch and can play tackle at the next level and should be a multi-year starter at the FBS/FCS level and it would not be surprising if he ended up going P4 by the time it’s all said and done.

Barnes is a massive prospect with great length and a huge frame with tons of upside and untapped potential as the next level and is far from a finished product. He is strong at the POA, bends and moves well for his size and is a striker with inside hands and plays with good leverage and sudden knock-back. He is a two-way guy but should find his home at offensive tackle in college due to size, movement abilities and the frame to continue packing on weight while being fluid enough to be a true tackle at the FCS+ level. He checks in just outside the top ten in the state and is a intriguing project that could end up being a steal in college.

Barnes is a elite tackle/Edge prospect with the right measurables, length, wingspan and athletic ability to be high impact guy in college. He is very athletic, moves fluidly in space and is very flexible in and out of his stance with knee bend and ankle mobility. He does a nice job using his length to keep blockers off his chest, creates immediate vertical push on tackles and ends and shows he can get out and seal in space, combo to the second level and can really run for his size. He holds tons of upside in college and has a high ceiling over the next 5-6 years of his playing career and can play multiple positions with elite and rare athletic abilities for his size.

Barnes has prototype size for a defensive end where he is able to use that length to create separation at the point of attack. He anchors well in the run game and is able to hold the edge but as he gains more size and strength he is going to be hard to move. His length is a problem when it comes to rushing the passer as he is able to get around tackles and also makes it hard to throw when he get his hands up. Another plater that we can see really shooting up the rankings after the summer.

Barnes is still a developing prospect but has the frame to be a FCS+ defender as he continues to grow and develop through 2025. He has tremendous length, good strength at the point of attack and shows sudden movement, twitch and bend for someone his size. Barnes should fit nicely as an edge player in college and has tons of upside and growth potential through his last two years of high school. Heading into the Fall, Barnes should be one of the more active pass rushers across Idaho and start generating some college interest and potential offers over the next 12 months.
