I had to come back to this eval because Mattia just earned an offer from Ferris State.
Well, high D2 is exactly where I think Mattia belongs. The Groves lineman did an excellent job this season leading the O-Line unit. He’s an especially good run blocker and has the agility to develop into a high-end pass blocker. I feel that a high-end D2 program would be perfect for Mattia.

I said it last year, and I’ll say it again: Mattia is a dang good high school football player. He’s the clear #1 on Groves’ O-Line this year, and arguably the best all-around player on this 2025 Groves team.
He’s one of the best run blockers in the state. Excellent footwork, great hand placement, and always plays through the whistle. Constantly finding someone new to block, and doesn’t let up unless the play is blown dead. Mattia deserves a tremendous amount of credit for the Groves rushing success this season.
In addition, Mattia earned several reps at NT. He was a pretty effective gap-to-gap run stopper, and provided good upside in pass rush.

No full-season highlight tape from Mattia yet, but I was extremely impressed with what I saw from Mattia in the game I watched against Seaholm, and he has good single-game tape.
- Mauler. Great run blocker who knows how to move bodies
- Good pass blocking fundamentals; able to keep good D-Linemen at bay
- Already earned a lot of praise from media outlets
- Fully expect D2 offers this Spring.
