Paul Gregorian | Prep Redzone Scout
Recent Offers: University of Idaho
Notes: Towne provides nice position versatility on the defensive side and does a lot of different things on the back end. He can cover, come up and play run support and is a physical playmaker that should have one of the best seasons as a senior in the SJS.

Towne is a hybrid player that can play multiple positions on the defensive side and fly’s around and makes plays on both sides of the ball for Franklin and is quietly one of the best players across the SJS heading into 2026. Towne is a hard hitter in the box, triggers quickly and can explode through contact at the POA and shows he can quickly shock and shed off blocks, dip around bigger blockers and rush the passer off the edge. He should fit nicely in college as a strong safety with plus athleticism and cover abilities and is going to be a nice late steal for a college program.

Towne moves into the top 100 overall after an impressive and productive sophomore season totaling 117 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, 6 sacks, and 3 interceptions. 5’11” 175 lbs. his size/frame project him as a DB at the college level but demonstrates positional versatility being able to roll down into the box and make plays at the first level. He’s an instinctual defender that has a great nose for the football being able to read and react to his keys with decisiveness and speed. Anticipates ball location and uses his short area burst to trigger to the spot and close space. High motor, he chases aggressively in pursuit and attacks ball carriers with good forward momentum and strength at the POA. In coverage, he’s got good awareness and eye discipline to see route concepts and close throwing lanes. Picked up his initial college offer from Idaho last month and should see increased recruiting attention going forward.

Towne is one of the top defensive back prospects across Norcal in the 2028 class and should have a huge second season campaign for Franklin. Checking into our rankings update just outside the top 100, he is one of the top returning defenders across the SJS and is poised for a huge 2025 season. He is a true downhill thumper that can play SS/OLB and is a solid run defender that gets downhill quickly, takes proper angles to track down ball carriers near the LOS from the third level and packs a punch at the POA. He shows he can redirect quickly and make plays on the ball with return abilities as well.
