Mondragon has made an impact on the Monte Vista’s defense these past two seasons and is looking to capitalize on a productive season. He had 89 total tackles (35 solo, 54 assisted), 5 TFL, 1 sack, 2 QB pressures, 2 PD, and 1 FF. Mondragon displays good athleticism due to good lateral agility, acceleration, and solid speed. Mondragon explodes out of his stance using his very good hand strength to combat the OL. Good block shedding and get off speed. He has a good bull rush to knock them off their anchor. Good hand strength and placement. One thing about Mondragon was his pursuit and willingness to help teammates finish tackles. Another name to keep an eye on during camp season.

Read EvaluationRobert Davis | Prep Redzone Scout
Mondragon delivered one of the more productive seasons among small school defenders, finishing with 89 total tackles, five tackles for loss and one sack. His high motor stands out immediately on film, as he consistently pursues the football from sideline to sideline. Mondragon’s instincts and anticipation allow him to diagnose plays quickly, getting him in position to make stops all over the field. At the line of scrimmage, he shows awareness by getting his hands up to disrupt passing lanes and bat down throws. He embraces contact, often being a tone setter for his defense. Entering the upcoming season, Mondragon projects as a name to know in 1A and should continue to gain recognition statewide.
