Clay is one of the top defensive back prospects in the 2025 class and has been a multi-year starter for Capital. He is a natural corner that is physical near the line of scrimmage, shows patient hands and does a good job at staying in the hip pocket of receivers if beat downfield. He shows recovery speed if beat inside and has disciplined eyes in zone coverage while often beating quarterbacks into bad throws over the middle. Clay holds two offers from Eastern Oregon and Carroll College and is a name to know as we near the second and final national signing day as he remains uncommitted and unsigned.

Clay will be entering into our rankings in the final 2025 update after having a truly breakout senior season for Capital and has established himself as a sure fire D3+ college caliber prospect. He is a very explosive athlete with the ball in his hands that can play both on the outside, in the slot or in the backfield and offers tremendous position versatility on both sides of the ball. Clay shows he is a natural pass catcher over the top with tracking abilities in traffic and does a nice job at fitting into tight windows from the backfield while also showing true open field speed in the clear with the skills to make defenders miss in space. In week 9, he had perhaps the best showing across all of Idaho where he went for nearly 300 all-purpose yards and 5 scores. One on offense, one on defense and one on special teams with a kick return for a score.

Clay has been a special player since his sophomore season not only as a big-time corner but his transition to running the football for Captial has really sparked their offense. He has great speed and the ability to really get to the edge while making defenders miss in space.

Clay has had a really good career for Capital at the corner back position where he uses his quickness and elite ball skills to make plays in the passing game. He does a great job of mirroring the wide receiver and can impact the game with his tackling as well.

Clay is one of the top defensive backs in the state of Idaho and picked up an offer from Carroll College. He is a natural peddler and fluid in space with good ball skills in breaks quickly to ball carriers and run support. He is a very balanced offender that should have a terrific senior season.
