Expert Analysis
Paul Gregorian | Prep Redzone Scout
McCoy burst onto the scene last off-season at multiple stops and has the ideal interior length and initial twitch/sudden movement for the FBS level with still two years left in his prep career. He has heavy hands, can eat up blocks inside while providing a interior pass rush with speed/power rush moves in his toolbox. He shows he can take reset the LOS without giving up ground and hold the point of attack and moves very well for his size both in-between the tackles and when making plays behind the line in space. Currently he holds offers from Colorado State, Sacramento State and San Jose State and should see a slew of others coming in to kick off the off-season.

McCoy impressed at multiple stops this off-season and is a twitchy and strong interior prospect with plus length and provides a consistent interior rush. He is still a raw and developing kid with very good upside and can win on double teams, holds the point without losing ground and has violent inside hands. Only a rising Sophomore, he is one of the top 2028 interior guys we have in the state and is another prospect that should really start to gain attention through the season. He currently holds offers from Sac State, SJSU and Colorado State and enters into our rankings as a top 3 player at the position.

A lot to like about McCoy. He’s a force on the DL combining his elite size with impressive athleticism and raw power at 6’5” 280 lbs. He plays with a strong base and heavy hands, consistently winning at the POA and disrupting blocking schemes. Difficult to block, he’s able to overpower blockers with his size and natural strength to shed and free himself up to pursue the ball. His length and reach make him tough for offensive linemen to engage effectively, and he uses that leverage to control gaps and rush the passer. Shows the ability to penetrate and collapse the pocket, making him a consistent interior threat on passing downs. Flashes good bend, speed, and movement skills to react and redirect to the ball carrier. Holds three D1 offers to date but could develop into a national recruit on either side of the ball.
