After staring the year with 26 yards against Landrum and just seven on one carry against Chapman, Walhalla started to transition its next high-volume tailback of the future in Week 3 against Pendleton. That night, he had 90 yards on 10 carries as he continued to get more looks with the expected starter still recovering from an injury.
Then, it was on like Donkey Kong for Dailey.
He got 24 carries against West-Oak and then 27 against Liberty. The results? 352 rushing yards and four touchdowns just in those two games. It gave the staff every excuse to keep him on offense after he played a hybrid LB/DB spot in middle school, too. Let’s not forget, despite a coaching change since, Walhalla gave its primary ball carrier 330 carries two years ago. Dailey probably won’t hit that total. But you feed the beast that produces. Him starting his career by averaging just shy of 7 yards per carry means he’s the one producing.
