Paul Gregorian | Prep Redzone Scout
The Serra product is one of the top safety prospects in the state heading into his Junior season, and has all the tools to be a high level P4 player. He is a long and rangy athlete that excels against the run in space, explodes through contact when triggering downhill and has elite cover abilities downfield with fluid hips in transition, natural ball skills and breaks quickly on the ball when coming downhill. He checks into our rankings as a top 50 player in the state, and is a kid that could see that rise through his Junior year for the Padres.

High caliber athlete with the versatility to be a difference maker in both run support and coverage. Long 6’2” 185 lb. frame with good growth potential to add mass without sacrificing his speed and movement skills. He’s savvy defender that has great range and reactionary quickness to break on the ball and close space. Smooth coming out of his transition accelerating out with good pad level to work downhill aggressively and make plays at the POA. Like his key play diagnosis skills and location ability, he makes quick decisive reads without hesitation to trigger to the ball. Plays with good eye discipline to be in the right position at the right time. Wide skillset allows him to drop back into deep coverage or roll down into the box. Recruitment has exploded this contact period pulling in seven D1 offers.

Taufoou had a fantastic showing at the varsity level against Folsom on Friday night, and is a no brainer FBS caliber player at the next level with elite size, range and ball skills on the back end. Having a INT on the night, he showed the ability to play the entire back end and triggers well in space while bringing a nice thump at the POA and seemingly always around the ball. Only a rising 2027 prospect, he is truly one of the elite natural playmakers at defensive back and should be closing in on his first offer soon.
