Expert Analysis
Jordan Reyes | Prep Redzone Scout
Watkins was flying under the radar much his high school career and it was surprising to see him not pick up his first FBS offer until December of his senior year. At 6’5” 190 lbs. he’s a tough matchup for any defender that can’t match his length and speed. He’s a strider with good long speed to be a vertical threat and force the defense to cover all areas of the field. His length, leaping ability, and balls skills make him an excellent redzone and jump ball threat that can go over the top of defenders and compete for the ball. Love his ability to come down with contested catches in traffic. First offered by Portland State last May then followed up by College of Idaho, San Diego, Black Hills State, finally Hawaii, where he committed shortly after. Finished with 42 catches for almost 800 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2022. Growth potential and length give him good upside as heads to Hawaii.

Watkins is a mismatch for any HS defender at 6’5” 190 lbs. He’s a strider with good straight line speed to stretch the field vertically and turn short passes into long gains. An excellent deep ball or redzone threat that can use his length/extension to go over the top of defenders and attack the ball at the high point. Great ability to compete for the ball and come down with contested catches in traffic. So far this season he’s racked up 26 receptions for 430 yards and four touchdowns. Currently holds offers from Portland State and College of Idaho with the upside and potential to add more.
