I don’t know if it’s ridiculous to say that Johannes is one of, if not the best, out-state 2029 offensive lineman. Possessing a solid 6’1″ 225-lb build as a freshman also boasts a 73″ wingspan. His testing numbers were solid, highlighted by a 4.99 shuttle time. There are a lot of raw skills that could use some refinement, but he was able to hold his own against big school upperclassmen and even win some impressive 1v1s. I liked how low he played, and even though he was one of the lighter OL prospects in attendance, that knee bend gave him a stout frame, which allowed him to win matchups against far heavier opponents. He won the leverage battle more often than not, and even if the defender caught him leaning, he was able to recover and still take a W. I’d love to see him put on some weight, and I’m pumped to see his sophomore tape.

A new name out of the Outstate in the 2029 class that kept getting on my live radar on Saturday was Luthern Johannes out of Medford. The 6’2 225 pounder ran a pro agility inside a 5.0 which in encouraging for just a freshmen at the offensive line position. Off the eye test, Luther had a composure about him for his age, as you see he’s not a finished product as of yet, but has the early traits to keep building blocks in his development. He appears pretty well-rounded when it comes to his comfortability in pass-pro vs. run-blocking which is another promising sign for Luther based on the live reps I watched. Good pad-level, a little raw when it comes to his footwork but has plenty of time to grow out those skillsets and his frame with three more years of varsity football coming under his belt.
