Standing at 6-foot-4, Watkins combines his impressive reach with strong, reliable hands, making him a dependable target. He is a crisp route runner with deep-threat speed and he opened the Lovejoy game with a spectacular 79-yard over-the-shoulder grab for a touchdown. He finished with 12 catches for 212 yards and a touchdown on the night. Following this performance, Watkins picked up offers from Stephen F. Austin and Incarnate Word, marking him as a rising prospect to watch.

Watkins has strong hands and his large catch radius enables him to extend to make difficult grabs on contested catches. He uses his 6-foot-4 frame well to box out defenders in close quarters and he has the body control to play above the rim, making him a red zone threat.
