About Kristian
Expert Analysis
Josh White | Prep Redzone Scout
Whatley’s well-rounded skill set is impressive- especially when considering his age. The 2029 prospect shows polished and reputable mechanics, consistent timing, and a cool confidence that most QBs don’t develop until later in their careers. With enough arm strength to attack the opposite-hash throws and push the ball vertically when opportunities arise Whatley throwing profile is solid and will get even more dynamic over time. An impressive trait is that the velocity and spin remain consistent regardless of platform or level.
One of his more impressive traits is his ability to speed up his process under pressure when the kitchen gets hot. He has a slight of hand when handling play-action and RPO concepts- allowing him to sell the fake and get into into throwing position quickly. Similar to a shooter getting into his shot pocket for a jump shot- Whatley is locked and loaded.

Kristian Gallups Whatley won our “strongest arm” competition, which you can credit to his easy arm strength and the ability to manipulate trajectory on the ball. He is on the stouter side, but still has plenty of room to develop. With his muscle mass, he can toss the ball with plenty of air under it without much effort. As he develops more twitch and rotational energy, everything should shorten up and he can get the ball out quickly to attack each level of the field. As far as pure arm strength is concerned, Gallups Whatley is well-equipped in that category.
