Barrett is probably one of the easiest names on this list for me to make the case for. He has been starting at CCC since stepping in as a sophomore and took another major step forward last season, throwing for nearly 2,000 yards and 20 touchdowns while rushing for 604 yards and five more scores. Through three games this season, he has thrown for 429 yards and four touchdowns while completing 76% of his passes. He also leads the team in rushing with 300-plus yards and three touchdowns. I’ve always liked the way Barrett manages the game, makes throws under pressure and can hurt defenses with his legs. There’s a lot of football ability here.

Barrett put on his Superman cape for this performance. A lot of eyes were on this one as one of the better games on the West Side of the state, going against a formidable foe with a talented QB of their own. That had to motivate Barrett because he came out on a mission. Running people over, throwing dimes and even taking reps at running back. Whatever-it-takes mentality for this kid. Just a ball player who continues finding ways to impact the game.
