Casani is a rising senior that should have a breakout season for Loyola and is going to be a very key late steal for a FCS+ program after the season. Casani is a big time thumper from his OLB position, comes up and sets the edge while able to take proper angles into the backfield and packs a punch at the POA. He shows excellent closing speed and range when making plays backside and can redirect quickly in the backfield and rush the passer with good bend and active hands when getting around tackles. He has a strong build and lower body strength while showing he can bang in the box, shock and shed off blocks on his way to ball carriers and is a very high IQ player in pass coverage with disciplined eyes and some ball skills as well in PBU situations. Overall, he is a very well-rounded linebacker prospect that checks the boxes and is going to have a monster senior season.
Casani led Loyola in tackles with 166, had 16 for a loss, three sacks, two blocked field goals, three forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and an interception last season.
He’s a hard-hitter who runs through people and can change direction on a dime without losing his speed. Casani does a good job shaking blocks from offensive linemen with his hands and breaks on the ball quickly. He likely projects as an outside linebacker at the college level and should get more college looks when he continues to add some muscle.
Casani is one of the more under-rated linebackers in all of southern California and is a great athlete that moves well over the top and can change direction quickly while always around the ball. He also shows he can cover in space and triggers on the outside and runs through ball carriers with violence while packing a punch, especially for his size. Casani shows he can sniff out plays, breaks quickly to ball carriers and has ball skills and return abilities as well with the frame to continue packing on weight through his final season. Overall, he is a very sound player that should fit nicely as a outside linebacker in college and is going to be a late steal and a key riser in the spring and summer.
