Expert Analysis
Chris Smith | Prep Redzone Scout
The Bears pounded Hardin Valley last week 40-7 and Martin was a major factor behind the blowout of the Hawks. The East TN two-way talent who is headed to Miami Ohio as a defensive back, was explosive and efficient in Week Eight, producing five total touchdowns with most of the damage coming by way through the air. Martin is a talented young man with size and natural athletic abilities that translate well to the college game, especially on the defensive side of the ball but he certainly earned this award with his offensive prowess. Game Stats: 26-33 passing for 255 yds & 4 TD’s; 19 yds rushing 1 TD (3 tcks on Def.)

Committing recently to Miami Ohio, Martin is an ultra talented defender that is honestly underrated compared to fellow defensive backs and someone I could see developing into a starter and possible All-Conference player during his time with the Red Hawks. Martin is a big guy who moves well, sporting the athleticism and versatility to play multiple roles within the secondary. He shows excellent feet and the ability to drive on the ball quickly then finish with controlled violence. His game style and overall abilities might fit best back at safety but Martin has enough speed and body control to give it a go out at cornerback. Either way, the Red Hawks are receiving a diamond in the rough and a player that is far from reaching his maximum potential.

Taking himself off the recruiting trail recently with his commitment to Miami Ohio, Martin may be a guy to continue watching down the line as he is a hidden gem with position versatility and natural athleticism that could play well on the Power Five gridiron. Martin has nice size along with good feet and the closing speed to make plays consistently around the ball. He also has the versatility to play safety, nickel or even a little cornerback, so his skill set could appeal to bigger schools looking for someone with his capabilities.
