Evaluation: You Are Athlete Maryland
As with most linebackers that attend non-padded camps, they get evaluated during indy period and passing 1v1’s (yes, running 1v1’s too, but I can go and look at their highlights to see how they play against the run). Sawi has a solid highlight tape, showing that he is a physical linebacker that plays downhille from the middle and makes tackles near, at, or behind the line of scrimmage.
During this camp, he actually ended up taking some 1v1 reps from the running back position. I thought he did a nice job getting open on the flat routes. Some of the throws were a little off, but that’s not his fault. I think he has the higher upside at the linebacker position at this stage in his career. Continuing to work on his quickness and acceleration out of the gate will make him a better running back prospect.

Kai played on varsity this past season fro Walkersville HS. Mainly at ILB but also getting some reps at RB. With good size and build already for a freshman at 6’0″ 180lbs+ he will look the part out there on the field this weekend. Kai plays with nice burst and lateral movement at LB. Look for him to man the middle of the field during the tournament and close on the ball quickly. At Rb he shows quick, choppy feet. I expect him to be make a few plays catching the ball out of the backfield and making defenders miss in space this weekend. Kai should be a key player on both sides of the ball for FredCo Elite and is a player to watch in the 15U division.
