Julian McDonald is a talented DB/ATH from Theodore who’s made a huge impact on his team’s defense the last few seasons.
“McDonald is a rangy safety with great size, speed, and instincts. He’s an every-down threat who uses his speed and IQ to fly around the field, find the ball, and create stops.
McDonald is a heat-seeking missile. He’s so good in pursuit and is a talented tackler who constantly prevents huge plays from breaking out in the open field. On top of that, he’s shown that he can create some incredible plays in coverage. He does a great job using his size and ball skills to his advantage, forcing PBUs and INTs in some incredibly clutch spots.”
McDonald has some great tape from last season you can watch below. We’re all going to have to watch for him this coming year- he’s put a ton of impressive things on tape.

Big DBs are always fun to watch and receive major consideration for CFB programs. McDonald, now up to 6’3 170, is a massive cloud in the secondary and has room to bulk up. Naturally creates disruption in man coverage with his length, and dropping the ball over him is difficult. However, I think he is best coming downhill. He fits well, leverages the ball nicely, and settles down before tackling. Long-term, I think McDonald will project as a safety, where he can more consistently come downhill to make physical plays on the ball.
