The workhorse running back for the Panthers is previous game ball recipient Joshua “Buck” Johnson. Johnson galloped his way to 17 touchdowns this fall and averaging over 7 yards per carry, he has been a star in 2024. Curious to see how his recruiting picks up, I know he has a few division 3 offers but he deserves more. Anyhow, Johnson’s ranking doesn’t do him justice he has been one of the best players in all of Virginia this season.

Speaking of dominating performances, running back Joshua Johnson Joshua Johnson 5'10" | 155 lbs | WR Freedom-SR | 2026 State VA had one against Collegiate as well. Three touchdowns is good, but what is eye popping is 209 rushing yards on 17 carries! My esteemed colleague Cole Laing covered him last week which you can view on our home page. I agree with Cole in that Johnson is going to be relied upon all season for St. Paul VI.

I covered Joshua as an unoffered class of 2025 player previously in July, and he has started the season strong. In 3 games, he has 32 rush attempts, 156 yards, 4 TDs, averaging 4.86 yards per attempt, and 1 reception for 16 yards. His tape shows him to be a dependable back inside the 10 yard line due to his vision, burst, contact balance, and run strength to get the ball in the end zone. Expect Joshua to continue to be a reliable player for the 2-1 St. Paul IV Panthers for the remainder of this season.

Good height and size. Good athleticism displaying very good foot speed and balance, good acceleration, foot quickness, lateral agility, and change of direction. Displays good vision as a ball carrier to identify the hole with good burst through the hole, accelerating quickly with good balance to stay on his feet and keep his stride. Good ability to create yards with his vision and lateral agility to evade defenders in the hole. Finished the run well with physical toughness to fight for extra yards. He averaged 11.7 yards per carry and scored 8 TDs last season (per his Hudl highlight). Also plays Cornerback on defense where his athleticism allows him to play good man and zone coverage. He has good read and reaction to the throw to be in position and displays good ball skills to force incompletions by stripping the ball from the receiver’s hands. I expect him to have a big senior season this fall.
