Who would’ve thought a Carthage QB would be in the headlines in December? The Bulldogs being in the thick of a deep playoff run is just like clockwork at this point, and the leader under center has been a major factor once again. Surratt is a poised and polished pocket passer with incredible accuracy and the arm strength to feed his playmakers at all levels of the field. He delivers passes with great anticipation and velocity over the middle of the field. On the season, he’s been as efficient as can be, completing passes at a 72% clip with over 3,000 yards and 42 TDs to just 5 interceptions. With offers from Texas Tech, UTEP, and UNLV, Jett will look to lead his Bulldogs to yet another state title.

The field general of the Bulldogs’ high-powered offense, Surratt delivered a phenomenal junior campaign in 2024, throwing for 3,378 yards and 53 touchdowns. He is a cerebral quarterback with outstanding field vision, timing, and touch, particularly on deep passes. His arm strength, poise in the pocket, and ability to make plays on the move make him a true dual-threat and a leader on the field. Surratt currently holds offers from Colorado State, Houston, UNLV, UTEP, and UTSA, with more likely to come as the season progresses.

Surratt has a lean, athletic build, he has a strong arm with ability to make all of the throws on the route tree. He can thread the needle into small coverage windows for completions. Surratt throws well on the roll out and he has the arm talent to make off platform throws for completions. Jett makes the three-step and five-step drops look routine. When he is in rhythm and on time, he is extremely accurate. He has excellent touch on his deep and his ability to make the big play keeps pressure on the defense. This enables the Carthage offense to be dynamic. Surratt passed for over 3,800 yards and 46 touchdowns in 2023. Offers have come in from UTSA, Texas Tech and Houston. Surratt is poised for a big time season in 2024.

Surratt has clean footwork in the pocket, he stands tall during his delivery, he has disciplined eyes as he goes through his progressions and he has excellent pocket presence. Jett has a quick release, that is complemented by superb footwork, which enables him to deliver dimes in rhythm and on time to his targets. Surratt is calm under pressure and he can carve up a defense with his pinpoint accuracy. Jett is one of the top playmakers in the Class of 2026 in the State of Texas. Houston, UTSA and Texas Tech have extended offers as Surratt heads into the 2023 season ready to lead the Carthage offense full time.
