Pendergist has a good frame for a younger back and already shows some of the physical traits you want to see at the position. He runs with good pad level, keeps the football tucked tight, and doesn’t give defenders many free shots at it. He can play a physical style and is willing to help in pass protection, which is something younger backs often struggle with. As a runner, he keeps things simple. He doesn’t try to bounce everything outside or get too cute in the backfield. When a lane is there, he hits it and gets upfield. There’s something to be said for backs who take what’s available and keep an offense on schedule.
