Paul Gregorian | Prep Redzone Scout
The 3-star prospect is one of the top dual threat signal callers in the state and has had an outstanding prep career to this point and offers position versatility at the next level. He has a massive frame, strong build and can fit the ball into tight windows while throwing receivers open and buying time in the pocket. He shows he can escape and run effectively on designed runs with open field speed, some wiggle in space and has contact balance and looks for contact, which is rare for a quarterback. He is a very intriguing prospect and his commitment in the next few months will be one to watch across the valley.

Spurgeon had one of the better seasons of any signal caller across the central valley and has all the tools necessary for the next level and is a true dual threat quarterback that is very explosive with the ball in his hands and has a strong arm downfield. He can fit the ball into tight windows and throws accurate on the run across his body without losing zip on the ball and is accurate with the deep ball. In the run game he shows an elite burst, open field speed and the skills to make defenders miss in the open field both when scrambling and on designed runs. He just picked up his first FBS offer from SDSU and was offered by NAU earlier this year.

One of the top dual threat quarterbacks across the central valley regardless of class, the Clovis North product should have a breakout Junior season campaign once he takes the reins of the quarterback position. He has elite overall speed and is explosive through the first level while able to zip the ball into tight windows and throw on the run. In the right system at the next level, he will excel and should draw plenty of college interest after his junior season.

Spurgeon is a 6’4” 205 lb. dual-threat QB with a solid blend of size, athleticism, and arm talent that landed him an early offer from Northern Arizona. Smooth arm action, he shows the ability to mix up speeds with velocity and touch whether it’s pushing the ball downfield or fitting it into tight windows. A true threat as a runner using his long stride and power to escape pressure, extend plays, and pick up big yardage on designed runs or broken plays. His mobility adds a dynamic element to any offense, keeping defenses off balance and opening up the playbook. Versatility and positional flexibility could allow him to be recruited and transition to multiple positions at the college level depending on development and need. Dual-sport athlete that is also a good baseball player.

Spurgeon is a true dual-threat passer and is one of the best athletes in the central valley heading into the Fall. He’s a natural runner with downfield speed and is tough to take down due to lower body strength and is not afraid to run through contact. He has the ideal frame for the position and is a true dual threat quarterback that can buy time with his legs and knows when to tuck it and run and make big plays on designed runs as well. He has a strong arm and quicker release while able to fit the ball into tight windows downfield and will only continue to improve and grow his throwing mechanics over the next two seasons. A two-sport athlete, he is a very intriguing prospect that you draw plenty of college interest over the next two years and have a breakout Junior season campaign for the Wolves.
